Supportive Psychotherapy Group at Great Lakes Therapy Center

Supportive Psychotherapy

Therapy isn’t just for those who are suffering or stuck. Anyone can benefit from the accountability and support an ongoing relationship with a psychotherapist can provide. In truth, many of our clients are thriving and empowered individuals who find therapy helpful in reaching their highest potential.

Our Therapy Philosophy

The function of therapy is to receive support and accountability, increase acceptance of self and others, change unhealthy patterns and enhance emotional and behavioral stability.

Many times therapy isn't effective because the clinician is utilizing an approach that is not evidence based or is not being delivered in accordance with evidence based practices. Therefore, we solely provide evidence based treatments and are committed to adhering to evidence based practices.

Female Client Interested in DBT at Great Lakes Therapy Center

The DBT Informed Option

Sometimes clients find GLTC and they are not needing or are not interested in our full protocol program but would still like to learn DBT Skills or concepts. We call this approach DBT Informed therapy, it is less structured and solution focused than a full protocol approach.

It involves individual talk therapy sessions during which DBT elements are incorporated. This is a supportive form of therapy that is often appropriate for clients interested in self exploration, accessing support or processing experiences. Length of treatment and frequency of sessions is tailored to the client's individual needs and goals.
