Emily Dynis

DBT Staff Therapist
(She/Her/Hers)

Emily is a DBT Staff Therapist and a graduate of Adler University where she earned a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling. She is receiving supervision from Anne Marie O’Donnell, LCPC who has years of experience providing comprehensive DBT.

Emily has experience providing mental health services to a diverse population at a residential facility, serving individuals dealing with homelessness, mental illness and substance abuse issues in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. Here, she gained extensive knowledge about harm reduction framework and has become an avid supporter ever since. She views each person as a unique, individual set of experiences and empathically treats them as such in a culturally competent manner. She is particularly drawn to the dialectical and Buddhist practices of DBT and believes in the true power of abandoning dichotomous thinking for acceptance of the present moment while motivating the client for change. She values deep connection and will bring her authentic self to each session with genuine curiosity to understand you and what your life worth living looks like. Emily will not stop talking about her intense passion for house and techno music, and loves to learn about your passions as well. In her free time, she enjoys going to concerts, doodling, trying Chicago restaurants, and learning about astrology.
