Anna Sossenheimer
DBT Staff Therapist
(She/Her/Hers)
Anna completed her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Chicago. She has experience working with youth in acute crises, as well as leading mindfulness practices for adults. In addition to extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), she has studied other forms of contextual behavior therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP), and Motivational Interviewing.
At GLTC, Ashley is participating in our DBT Fellowship program, led by Linehan Board of Certfication, Certified Providers. She will be completing a year of intensive DBT Training.
Anna is currently working under the supervision of Lauren Barris, LCSW, who has years of experience delivering comprehensive DBT.
Anna’s approach is centered in the belief that people are the experts of their own experiences; it is a privilege to be invited into clients’ lives and bear witness to their unique strengths, capabilities, and perspectives. Anna walks alongside her clients as a supportive guide, helping them navigate life’s many challenges, work toward their goals, and create a meaningful life. Anna’s stance in therapy is warm, non-judgemental, and rooted in anti-oppressive, identity-affirming practices. She is deeply influenced by mindfulness practices and believes no matter your current situation, you have the capacity for both self-acceptance and change.
In her free time, Anna enjoys craft projects, long walks by the water, and snuggling her two tuxedo cats
